Multiple Teams · Gainesville Baseball Comes Roaring Back To Force Game Three


Gainesville knowing they had to win or go home got the bats and runs needed in game 2. The Red Elephants scored 4 runs in the top of the first to take a 4-0 lead. Dalton got 1 run in the bottom of the first for a 4-1 score. Gainesville added 3 more runs in the second two of them came off a Jared Smith home run. At the end of two Gainesville had a 7-1 lead. In the fifth Gainesville put 2 more runs across the plate to take a 9-1 lead. Kyle York pitched five innings allowing only 1 Dalton run for the win. Dalton was able to put 1 more run across in the bottom of the seventh but Jay Hinshaw, who pitched the last two innings struck out 3 Dalton batters and allowed only the 1 run for the save. Gainesville had 9 runs on 9 hits and 6 RBI’s. Collier Scott, Charlie Wall and Ross Tipton each had 1 RBI and Jared Smith added 3. Game 3 will take place at Ivey-Watson at noon Saturday (tomorrow).
