Red Elephant spring sports are in full swing as Gainesville student athletes took to the field, pitch, court, and course 17 times last week. Below are a few of the results:


Gainesville earned a sweep of West Hall (3-2; 14-3, 5 innings) before dropping two to North Hall and North Forsyth respectively on Saturday.

Saturday was a good day for Red Elephant golf as the boys competed in the Longhorn Invitational on the Legacy at Lanier Islands course, read why here and here.


Both Gainesville teams bookended the week on opposite ends of the spectrum with the girls losing 5-0 to Flowery Branch on Monday before starting region play with a 4-0 win against Apalachee on Friday. It was the opposite for the boys, who dominated Flowery Branch before falling in a 1-0 heartbreaker to Apalachee.

In Tuesday’s boys’ match, Aram Lara’s two goals paced GHS to a 5-2 win against Flowery Branch. Jose Aguilera, Anthony Alday, and David Menchaca also scored for Gainesville.
