2020-2021 Athletic Year
To members of the Gainesville community and family,
First and foremost, It is my hope that this letter finds you and your family safe and well. Secondly, as we
begin preparations for the 2020-2021 athletic seasons, I wanted to take a moment to not only share
where we are as an athletic program, but also make you aware of some upcoming changes.
In early April, we experienced the unprecedented cancellation of spring sports due to the threat of
COVID-19; a cancellation that had a drastic effect on our ability to raise funds. As a result, it’s more
important than ever that you, our Gainesville community, ban together to support our Red Elephant
Those programs, offered at Gainesville High and Gainesville Middle schools, serve our young people in
capacities that go far beyond final scores, banners hung, or trophies won. And while the latter three
items mentioned are spoken and attainable goals for each of our programs, Red Elephant athletics have
always been about a greater purpose, largely because of our community’s support. That support, from
generation to generation, Red Elephant to Red Elephant, ensures we stay a force to be reckoned with,
and is needed now more than ever.
That is why we are writing, to ask you to join the Gainesville Athletic Club (GAC). The GAC is one of our
primary sources of fundraising, through membership, sponsorship, and sales. It provides an opportunity
for parents, coaches, teachers, alumni, and community members to come together to provide Big Red’s
current student-athletes with everything they need to enjoy the most enriching high school experience
possible. Last year, the GAC provided more than $115,000 to GHS and GMS athletics, funds that went to
uniforms, equipment, facilities, and much more. Enclosed is a membership flyer. We hope you will
consider joining us in supporting the young people of our community.
Now to the changes ahead: We are transitioning to cashless digital ticketing at all of our event sites. This
move will make us a touchless entry to alleviate contact between our guests and our ticket takers. Next,
while internally dealing with the financial fallout due to the threat of COVID-19, we are also going to be
dealing with rising officials’ fees. As a result, we are raising ticket prices (excluding middle school
events): football tickets will be $8, events that have two or more games will be $7, single games will be
$5. The good news? GAC membership prices will not change, which makes the GAC Membership pass an
even better deal moving forward.
We hope we can count on your help in continuing the long tradition of excellence in Gainesville
athletics. If you have any questions, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or 404-867-3594.
GO BIG RED!!!!
